🌿 Cooling Spiced Buttermilk (Neer Mor)

A simple, refreshing drink to beat the heat—light, soothing, and full of flavor.

🥛 Ingredients

  • Fresh curd (not sour) – 1 cup
  • Water – 1 to 1.5 cups
  • Salt – to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves – a small handful
  • Curry leaves – 5–6
  • Ginger – 1 small piece
  • Cumin seeds (jeera) – ½ tsp

For garnish:

  • Roasted cumin (jeera) powder – a pinch

⚙️ Preparation

  1. Prepare the base
    • Take fresh curd in a bowl
    • Add water and dilute it slightly
  2. Grind the flavors
    • In a mixer, add:
      • Coriander leaves
      • Curry leaves
      • Ginger
      • Cumin seeds
      • Salt
    • Grind into a smooth mixture
  3. Combine & filter
    • Add this ground mix to the diluted curd
    • Strain it to remove any rough bits
  4. Traditional touch
    • Use a wooden mathu (churner) to gently beat the buttermilk
    • (Avoid using a mixie here—it keeps the texture light and authentic)
  5. Finish
    • Pour into a glass
    • Sprinkle roasted cumin powder on top

❄️ Serve

  • Best served slightly chilled
  • Perfect for hot afternoons
